This Sunday May 1st is East County Earth Day up at Mt. Helix Park and Amphitheater. The events begins at 11 am and runs until 3 pm. You can hear outstanding educational speakers including Bill Tall from City Farmers (11:30 am) "How to grow ALL your own food" and Zach Pannier, President of the San Diego Green Builders Council, (1:30 pm) "Green - Your Role in Transforming the Built Environment," will be featured throughout event.
And-- there will be free children's activities including seed planting, beading and face painting.
You'll also enjoy music from a variety of local talent including both the Grossmont and Monte Vista High School jazz ensembles, and David Roulliard and the Tim Egan Band will be performing.
What would this great event be without delicious food, too! Stop by all the green vendors and educational booths... this is a fun, free event you won't want to miss. Shuttles will run from the San Miguel Fire Station, 10105 Vivera Drive in La Mesa, and also from Grossmont High School beginning at 10:45 am. Also, mark May 22 on your calendar for a free East County Youth Symphony concert in the Mt Helix amphitheater. The trumpet concerto and Summer Pops program will begin at 4 pm with shuttles running from the San Miguel Fire Station at 3:30 pm.
